El objetivo del Ayuntamiento de Caravaca, a través de su Concejalía de Turismo, es apoyar el relanzamiento de un sector clave en la economía local, del que dependen muchos negocios familiares y que fue el primero en verse paralizado por el estado de alarma

'Caravaca, cerca de ti' es el eslogan de la campaña de promoción lanzada por la Concejalía de Turismo del Consistorio caravaqueño con el objetivo de apoyar el relanzamiento progresivo del sector, afectado por el fuerte impacto de la crisis del COVID-19, y de posicionar al municipio como un destino próximo y seguro, donde disfrutar de múltiples recursos naturales, gastronómicos y patrimoniales.

Los jardines del Museo de la Fiesta acogieron el acto de presentación, que contó con las intervenciones del alcalde de Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García; la consejera de Turismo, Juventud y Deportes, Cristina Sánchez, así como del concejal y primer teniente alcalde, José Carlos Gómez, y del director de la campaña, el caravaqueño Álvaro Robles. En el antiguo Palacio de los Uribe también se dieron cita la hermana mayor de la Cofradía de la Vera Cruz, Mari Carmen López, así como el director de Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia, Juan Francisco Martínez, representantes de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz y del turismo, la hostelería y el comercio local, junto a miembros de la Corporación municipal y trabajadores de la Red de Museos y del área municipal de Turismo. Estuvo amenizado por alumnado del Conservatorio de Música 'Leandro Martínez Romero'.

José Francisco García remarcó que, "además de su importante carácter como destino de turismo religioso, Caravaca tiene mucho por decir y por ofrecer, aspecto que se ha intentado comunicar con mimo, originalidad en cada una de las piezas que componen esta campaña".

Por su parte, el titular de Turismo en el Ayuntamiento de Caravaca dijo que "la idea es que nos posicionemos como un destino de valor a tener en cuenta dentro del turismo nacional de interior". "Lejos de comunicar una cierta conformidad del que visita nuestro municipio al ver limitadas sus posibilidades de viajar a otros destinos más exóticos o internacionales, con esta campaña hemos tenido la oportunidad de poner de relieve todo lo que Caravaca de la Cruz tiene que ofrecer", subrayó José Carlos Gómez.
