El claustro del antiguo convento de las Madres Carmelitas acoge esta muestra de pintura, escultura y fotografía, organizada en colaboración con las concejalías de Cultura y Educación

                                                                                                      

Con una exposición de arte organizada con la colaboración de las concejalías de Cultura y Educación del Ayuntamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz, el instituto caravaqueño ‘San Juan de la Cruz’ continúa con las actividades conmemorativas de su cincuenta aniversario.

El claustro del antiguo convento de las Madres Carmelitas es el lugar elegido para acoger esta muestra colectiva de pintura, escultura y fotografía, que lleva por título ‘Confluencias’. Está compuesta por obras de diversos estilos y técnicas realizadas por artistas que han cursando desde el año 2001 el Bachillerato de la modalidad Artes en el IES San Juan de la Cruz. En la exposición participan Pedro Abellán, Rocío Caballero, María Caparrós, Esther Carrascal, Ana del Amor, Bego Fernández, Marta Fernández, Elena Llamas, Pedro López, Ester Niñirola y Teresa Rico.

El acto de inauguración contó con las intervenciones de los concejales de Cultura, Óscar Martínez, y Educación, Esther Poveda, así como del director del instituto San Juan, Isidro de la Ossa, y el profesor de Artes Plásticas encargado de coordinar la exposición, José Costa. La exposición permanecerá abierta al público hasta el próximo 22 de abril, de 18.00 a 21.00 horas.

Durante el presente curso académico, el IES San Juan de la Cruz celebra su medio siglo de existencia con distintas iniciativas, tales como una Semana Cultural, formada por un festival de música en el que participaron alumnos, profesores y antiguos alumnos y charlas impartidas por antiguos alumnos que han destacado en campos como el deporte, la ciencia, la medicina, las artes o las letras, entre otras actividades.

En el Juan de la Cruz actualmente cursan estudios más de 650 alumnos (402 de ESO y 264 de Bachillerato) y trabajan 68 profesores. Desde el curso 2001/2002, el centro participa en programas bilingües con carácter experimental. Además, imparte el Bachillerato de Investigación y está adscrito a otros programas como ‘Cantemus’ y ‘Corresponsales Juveniles’, entre otros. Asimismo, el IES San Juan de la Cruz es uno de los pocos centros en la Región que imparte el ‘BachiBac’, programa que refuerza los conocimientos de lengua y cultura francesa del alumnado. La oferta educativa se completa con la Enseñanza Secundaria Obligatoria y los bachilleratos de Ciencias, Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales, Artes, Investigación y Bachillerato a Distancia.
