La primera jornada de esta nueva campaña tendrá lugar este domingo, 10 de febrero, en el paraje de La Junquera, donde también se visitarán varias actividades agroecológicas



08/02/19. Dentro del programa de actividades medioambientales que promueve la Asociación para la Defensa de la Naturaleza ‘Caralluma’ en colaboración con la Concejalía de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz, este domingo, 10 de febrero, se inicia una nueva campaña para la conservación de Cernícalo Primilla.

La campaña se prolongará hasta el 15 de julio, con distintas actividades abiertas a la participación del público, como jornadas para la instalación de tejas nido, adecuación de nidales, limpieza y desinsectación de cubiles y anillamiento. Esta iniciativa tiene una importante vertiente conservacionista, pero también pedagógica y de concienciación ciudadana, acercando a la población el estudio científico de las aves y los beneficios que éstas aportan a la agricultura y al medioambiente en general.

En la jornada prevista para este domingo se adecuará el interior de varias decenas de tejas-nido de primillas instaladas en la colonia de La Junquera. Estas tejas posibilitan la entrada de los adultos al interior de tejados donde estas pequeñas rapaces acondicionan sus nidos.

Además, también se visitarán distintas actividades agroecológicas, tales como los cultivos de almendros en curvas de nivel, suelos agrícolas recuperados, muros con balas de paja, el futuro primillar en porchada de ganado. La actividad finalizará con la visita a la mayor sabina albar de la Región.

La jornada se iniciará a las 10.00 horas y el punto de encuentro es la gasolinera de Venta de Cavila.

En 1988 ‘Caralluma’ inició los trabajos de conservación y anillamiento de la colonia del campo caravaqueño, entonces la única conocida en la Región de Murcia.

El Cernícalo Primilla es una especie que inverna en el sur del Sáhara y llega a esta zona de la península a finales de febrero. Su presencia es beneficiosa para la agricultura, puesto que se alimenta de insectos -como la langosta- y de pequeños roedores, además de ser un buen bioindicador del cambio climático. Se puede considerar el más pequeño de los halcones. Hasta mediados del pasado siglo, fue un habitante muy frecuente de torres, cortijos, casonas, palacios y castillos situados en regiones dedicadas a la agricultura y a la ganadería extensiva, donde podían encontrar abundantes invertebrados con los que alimentarse.
