Las instituciones y empresas que integran la fundación continuarán apoyando la creación de infraestructuras y la promoción de Caravaca como destino de turismo cultural y religioso

La renovación por tramos del Camino de la Cruz entre Puente La Reina (Navarra) y Caravaca comenzará de forma inminente, tras la realización del estudio de viabilidad

La Fundación Camino de la Cruz, formada por instituciones y empresas punteras de la Región de Murcia, dobla su inversión para el año 2022, destinando más de 400.000 euros a iniciativas relacionadas las infraestructuras turísticas y las acciones de promoción de Caravaca de la Cruz como destino de turismo cultural y religioso.

El alcalde de Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, ha participado en la reunión telemática celebrada para hacer balance de las actuaciones llevadas a cabo durante el último año y comenzar a diseñar el plan de acción que marcará el nuevo ejercicio. También han formado parte de la misma el director general del Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia (ITREM), Juan Francisco Martínez; el hermano mayor de la Cofradía de la Vera Cruz, Luis Melgarejo, y los concejales de Turismo, José Carlos Gómez, y Proyectos Estratégicos Caravaca 2024, José Santiago Villa, junto a los representantes de las distintas empresas que integran el patronato.

José Francisco García ha querido expresar el "compromiso y la unión existente entre todos los miembros de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz, lo que está permitiendo, a través de una modélica fórmula de colaboración público privada, abordar proyectos vinculados al patrimonio histórico, cultural, natural y gastronómico de Caravaca".

Por su parte, el director general del ITREM ha destacado "el papel esencial de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz para mejorar el posicionamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz y la Región de Murcia como referente de turismo cultural y religioso, con vistas a la celebración del próximo Año Jubilar 2024".

El director general del Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia ha aprovechado la celebración de esta reunión para informar de la creación de una comisión técnica que se encargará de diseñar el plan de acciones para la puesta en valor del antiguo Convento de San José de las Madres Carmelitas de Caravaca de la Cruz, fundado por Santa Teresa de Jesús y adquirido recientemente por la Comunidad Autónoma de la Región de Murcia.

A lo largo de este año, la Fundación ha liderado acciones como la contratación del estudio de viabilidad de la señalización del Camino de la Vera Cruz entre Puente La Reina (Navarra) y la ciudad jubilar, que va a empezar a ejecutarse por tramos de manera inminente, así como la celebración de la exposición 'El Camino del Apóstol' de Zacarías Cerezo o la financiación de la escultura de José Carrilero 'El Rapto de Europa'.

Igualmente, ha organizado eventos como la V edición Regata Camino de la Cruz-Trofeo Punta Este, la Carrera 90k Camino de Levante o el evento gastronómico de las Cocinas del Jubileo, logrando un alcance estimado en medios escritos y digitales que ha superado los 13 millones de personas. También ha impulsado acciones de ayuda social como la campaña 'Tonelada Solidaria', una iniciativa, en colaboración con la Armada Española, que ha tenido como objetivo apoyar a las familias más desfavorecidas donando 5.000 kilos de alimentos y productos básicos a las delegaciones de Cáritas en la Comarca del Noroeste.

Las empresas e instituciones que componen el patronato de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz son el Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia (Itrem); Grupo Fuertes; Postres y Dulces Reina; Café Salzillo; Estrella de Levante; Limcamar; Caixabank; las fundaciones de la Ucam y Hefame, el Ayuntamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz y la Real e Ilustre Cofradía de la Santísima y Vera Cruz de Caravaca.
