El vehículo, destinado a personas con movilidad reducida, estará gestionado a través de la Oficina Municipal de Turismo y su uso será gratuito mediante reserva previa

José Francisco García ha agradecido esta nueva iniciativa de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz, que “una vez más es sensible a nuestras peticiones y, en este caso, viene a atender una necesidad en materia de accesibilidad”



15/03/2022. Los turistas y peregrinos con movilidad reducida que visiten Caravaca de la Cruz tienen a partir de ahora a su disposición un vehículo adaptado para facilitar el acceso a la Real Basílica de la Vera Cruz o a otros puntos de interés que soliciten previamente. Esta iniciativa ha sido posible gracias a la donación que la Fundación Camino de la Cruz ha realizado al Ayuntamiento.

El alcalde, José Francisco García, ha recibido esta donación en la explanada de la Basílica, acompañado del director general del Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia, Juan Francisco Martínez; el hermano mayor de la Cofradía de la Vera Cruz, Luis Melgarejo, y el concejal de Turismo, José Carlos Gómez.

En esta nueva acción de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz ha tenido una colaboración especial ‘La Caixa’, cuya directora territorial en la Región de Murcia, Olga García, se ha desplazado hasta la localidad para hacer entrega del vehículo.

José Francisco García ha agradecido la nueva iniciativa de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz, que “una vez más es totalmente sensible a nuestras peticiones y en este caso atiente una necesidad en materia de accesibilidad a la Basílica como uno de los principales emblemas de nuestra Región”.

Asimismo, el alcalde ha recordado que actualmente se está llevando a cabo una importante iniciativa financiada por los patronos públicos y privados de la Fundación Camino de la Cruz como son las obras del tramo final del Camino de la Levante, que, con un presupuesto de 178.000 euros, prolongan el trazado de la Vía Verde del Noroeste hasta el mismo corazón del casco histórico. “Esta actuación, que incluye la instalación de una pasarela metálica para salvar en Barranco de San Jerónimo, supone también una importante actuación en materia de accesibilidad y seguridad vial, puesto que evitará el paso por tramos de carretera con tráfico rodado a los peregrinos, andariegos y ciclistas”.

En referencia a la donación del vehículo adaptado, el director general del Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia, Juan Francisco Martínez, ha señalado que “contribuye a avanzar hacia el objetivo de la accesibilidad universal en el municipio de Caravaca, ya que permitirá a las personas con movilidad reducida disfrutar de la completa oferta turística de uno de los focos culturales por excelencia de la Región de Murcia”.

El vehículo estará gestionado por la Oficina Municipal de Turismo y para su uso gratuito habrá que realizar reserva previa (968 70 24 24 / 968 70 10 03 / This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Protección Civil se encargará de los desplazamientos concertados.

La Fundación Camino de la Cruz es una entidad público que trabaja de forma coordinada en favor del patrimonio, la infraestructuras y la promoción de Caravaca como destino de turismo religioso. Está conformada por la Comunidad Autónoma a través de su Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia (Itrem), el Grupo Fuertes; Grupo Reina; Grupo Caliche, Café Salzillo; Estrella de Levante; Limcamar; Caixabank; las fundaciones de la Ucam y Hefame, el Ayuntamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz y la Real e Ilustre Cofradía de la Santísima y Vera Cruz de Caravaca.
