El Ayuntamiento caravaqueño colabora con la cesión de 12 piezas en esta actividad enmarcada en el Día de los Museos de la Región de Murcia

El espacio cultural, enclavado en pleno centro de la capital, junto a la Catedral, acogerá del 12 de mayo al 17 de julio la muestra de Carrilero

La directora de San Juan de Dios ha señalado que uno de los objetivos es “que el visitante quiera descubrir en el Museo Carrilero de Caravaca de la Cruz aquellas otras muchas piezas que nos esperan para sorprendernos y seducirnos”


10/05/2022. El Conjunto Monumental San Juan de Dios de la capital murciana acoge a partir de este jueves, 12 de mayo, una muestra centrada en el escultor caravaqueño José Carrilero. Esta actividad abre una nueva modalidad de exposiciones en este centro cultural de referencia de la Región de Murcia, consistente en invitar a artistas destacados, museos y colecciones a mostrar sus obras.


El Ayuntamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz colabora con la Comunidad Autónoma en esta exposición enmarcada en el Día de los Museos de la Región de Murcia con el fin de dar protagonismo a uno de sus artistas más destacados y hacer más conocido el museo monográfico que alberga buena parte de su obra.

Para la exposición, han sido cedidas un total de 12 piezas de la colección permanente integrada en la Red de Museos de Caravaca de la Cruz, que gestiona la Concejalía de Turismo. Una empresa especializada se ha encargado de su embalaje y transporte hasta la capital murciana. 

La directora del Conjunto Monumental San Juan de Dios, Elisa Franco, ha explicado que “es una enorme honor contar como museo invitado con el que está dedicado al gran escultor José Carrilero, inaugurado en el año 2010 en la casa natal del artista”.

La colección del Museo José Carrilero está formada por unas cincuenta esculturas de diversos tamaños, a las que también se suman bocetos y pinturas. “La muestra que se va a poder contemplar en el Conjunto Monumental de San Juan de Dios es una breve pincelada del alma creativa del artista, una selección de obras de pequeño y mediano formato, que nos abren el apetito y nos invitan a querer conocer mucho más de su legado y trayectoria”.

La directora del Conjunto Monumental ha subrayado que “el propósito de la exposición es invitar a indagar en sus creaciones del artista y que el visitante quiera descubrir el Museo Carrilero de Caravaca de la Cruz, donde nos esperan otras muchas piezas para sorprendernos y seducirnos”.

José Carrilero está considerado uno de los escultores nacionales más sobresalientes de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Es Premio de Roma de Bellas Artes y Medalla de Oro de las Artes Murcianas, entre otros muchos premios y distinciones. Pese a verse obligado a abandonar de niño Caravaca, José Carrilero nunca perdió sus raíces y fue generoso con su ciudad natal al donar 90 obras escultóricas y pictóricas de gran valor, expuestas en la casa museo que lleva su nombre. Coincidiendo con su nombramiento el pasado mes de julio como Hijo Adoptivo de Caravaca, se instaló en la céntrica Plaza Paco Pim la obra monumental de ‘El rapto de Europa’.

La exposición estará en el Conjunto Monumental San Juan de Dios desde el jueves 12 de mayo al domingo 17 de julio de 2022.
