FairwayCaravaca de la Cruz ha participado, con un stand propio, en el fórum y feria especializada en turismo de peregrinaje 'Fairway', que del 1 al 3 de noviembre celebrada en Santiago de Compostela. Esta acción forma parte del plan de promoción del Año Jubilar 2024.

El evento de Santiago de Compostela se ha posicionado como una de las citas más destacadas para los profesionales vinculados a los caminos de peregrinación, reuniendo a numerosos destinos y empresas vinculadas al Camino de Santiago y a otras rutas destacadas a nivel a nacional e internacional. La Región de Murcia ha estado representada por Caravaca de la Cruz con un stand protagonizado por la imagen del Año Santo 2024, donde se ha suministrado información de los recursos turísticos del municipio, la oferta de alojamientos y los caminos de peregrinación.

En esta quinta edición participan 40 turoperadores especializados en turismo religioso, procedentes de 16 países, entre ellos Italia, Estados Unidos, Japón o Canadá. Además, se dan cita más de 100 empresas con servicios orientados al peregrino y 80 expositores de comunidades autónomas y ayuntamientos con rutas de peregrinación, como los que integran el Camino de Santiago, así como Santo Toribio de Liébana en Cantabria u otros internacionales el Camino Kumano Kodo en Japón.

El concejal de Turismo en el Ayuntamiento de Caravaca, José Santiago Villa, ha hecho un balance muy positivo de la participación en esta feria, ya que durante la misma "los técnicos de turismo regionales y locales desplazados a la cita han mantenido numerosos contactos y 20 reuniones de negocio con agencias de viaje y turoperadores muy interesadas en nuestro destino, lo que nos va a permitir abrirnos a nuevos mercados. Además, esta acción de promoción nos ha permitido llegar a asociaciones vinculadas a los caminos y a potenciales peregrinos".

José Santiago Villa ha explicado que esta "esta feria y fórum profesional ha sido muy útil para conocer y adaptarnos a las nuevas tendencias en peregrinación, realizando una apuesta por la sostenibilidad, la economía circular y la incorporación de las nuevas tecnologías para que los Caminos de la Cruz se conviertan en una fuente oportunidades". El concejal de Turismo ha visitado, de la mano de sus responsables, el Centro de Acogida al Peregrino de Santiago de Compostela con el fin de conocer su sus servicios e implantar su modelo de funcionamiento en el centro que se va a poner en marcha en Caravaca de la Cruz coincidiendo con el Año Jubilar 2024.

Caravaca de la Cruz 2024 Año Jubilar continuará en los próximos meses teniendo una presencia protagonista en las principales citas del sector turístico a nivel nacional e internacional, entre ellas la World Travel Market de Londres, que se celebra la próxima semana, la Feria Internacional del Turismo de Interior (INTUR) de Valladolid o la Feria Internacional de Turismo de Madrid (FITUR).
